Antique Guns (Live & Deact.)

(Item No. #0000006) - £200 (SOLD, 03/10/2024)
An antique percussion cap pistol of English origin, as seen by its proof marks, with a 2.8 inch turn-off barrel. All in good working order, despite externally showing signs of its age. A few marks and pitting can be seen on the wooden grips and its metalwork. Some imagery of what can be described as patterns of swirls can be found on both sides of the pistol's body, adjacent to its percussion action; a possible representation of vegetation given the composure of these patterns. Nonetheless, such imagery and the pistol's current condition are only indicative on a high standard of craftsmanship from the manufacturer... Read More

(Item No. #0000005) - £200 (SOLD, 03/10/2024)
An English percussion cap pistol with a strong action. This piece remains in good condition, being a largely non-descript percussion pistol that bears English proof marks which indicate its origin. No names or other markings can be found on this pistol, save for some elegant patterns marked into both sides of the pistol's body, adjacent to its percussion action (showings some signs of age, as expected). Some marks can be seen on the wooden grip, though it remains a sturdy part of this antique percussion firearm. Has a turn-off barrel of 4 inches in length, also showing signs of its age on the metalwork. A delightful... Read More

(Item No. #0000004) - £200 (SOLD, 03/10/2024)
A fine percussion pistol of Belgian origin. Made circa 1800s, the exact production year remains unspecified with this particular sample being a largely non-descript piece, bearing no names or serial numbers of any kind. This percussion pistol does bear Belgian proof marks, as pictured, indicating its origin. In perfect working order for its age, bearing a nice wooden grip, a turn-off barrel of 2 inches in length and a silver action. Also has the letter "D" stamped below the barrel. A broad estimation of when this percussion pistol was manufactured would place it between the 1840s to the 1880s. A wealth of non-descript... Read More

(Item No. #0000002) - £300 (UNAVAILABLE, 21/06/2024)
An Arabic Jezail matchlock musket. The term "jezail", or "jezzail", is derived from the Pashto Eastern Iranian language, meaning "long barrels", given this characteristic of the gun. Primarily used in warfare as opposed to hunting, the Jezail musket adopts a basic, cost-efficient design and was generally constructed by hand, also gaining popularity amongst the Pashtun tribesmen through their use across the First and Second Anglo-Afghan Wars (dated 1838-1842 and 1878-1880 respectively). Muskets of this type, while primitive, were usually regarded by their users as very personal weapons, with their decoration... Read More

(Item No. #0000001) - £300 (SOLD, 03/10/2024)
A six-shot Belgian 7mm pinfire revolver. The early development and adoption of these pinfire revolvers has been widely attributed to the late French gunsmith Casimir Lefaucheux (1802-1852) following the acquisition of his first patent in 1827. Casimir had since followed and adapted, between the years of 1808 and 1812, the work produced by Swiss gunsmith and inventor Jean Samuel Pauly (born Samuel Johannes Pauli, 1766-C1821), with Casimir being credited with developing one of the earliest examples of an efficient self-contained cartridge system, using the aforementioned Jean Samuel Pauly's work for reference. Pauly... Read More
Inert Ammunition & Ordnance

(Item No. #0000009) - £45 (IN STOCK)
A set of two prototype .224 Boz cartridges, both inert, developed in the late 1990s, according to public records.
Originally, I had acquired three of these rounds as a set, though I had decided to put two together as a set and only retain one for the Davey's Antique Arms Collector's Corner, given my fondness for prototype pieces. See Ref. A00012 for the listing of this single inert prototype round. The information between these two listings has been replicated.
The .224 Boz round was designed as a potential future replacement of the 9x19mm Parabellum round under NATO's use. Originating from the United Kingdom and manufactured... Read More
Misc. Militaria

(Item No. #0000003) - £49 (IN STOCK)
An authentic Turkish government-issue leather briefcase with a working two-stage combination lock. A very interesting and intriguing piece, this briefcase would have been issued in limited quantities to employees, officials and possibly even visitors on business working within the Centre of Excellence in Turkey. The primary purpose of the case itself would have been to safely and securely transport important documents. The legitimacy of the briefcase can be proven through the presence of its markings. A selection of these can be seen on the case; one on the left side of the flap on the front side of the case, bearing the Centre... Read More

CC Antique Guns (Live & Deact.)

(Ref. A00002) - (Part of the Davey's Antique Arms Collector's Corner)
Date Bought: January 2024
Status: Still Owned, Not For Sale
A matchlock musket of Indian origin. This sample has an impressive overall length (5 foot 8 inches, or 69.6 inches). Due to its cheap, simple and effective design at the time, it became a staple in the Mughal Empire's arsenal in South Asia. Starting out as being in use from the 16th century up until the mid-19th century, Toradar muskets also typically beared markings, usually decorative imagery of animal figures that are native to their users' home regions (more often than not, within India and its surrounding territories), which... An unusual 20 bore percussion shotgun of French origin. No other names or markings can be found on this shotgun besides the word "Bourges" on a silver-plated dish above the stock. A rather non-descript antique shotgun, save for the aforementioned "Bourges" marking. The silver-plated dish itself has a worn finish. At present, the name "Bourges" cannot be traced back to any firearms manufacturer as far as we have researched, though this marking is also the name of a city in France, Bourges, the present capital of the department of... A medium-sized musket of British origin. The musket itself is a British EIC (East India Company) Percussion Sepoy 1/2 Stocked Enfield Musket. It bears a great resemblance to the Pattern 1853 Enfield rifle-musket, albeit this example is shorter in length, hence it being 1/2 stocked, possibly to accommodate for a smaller user. The term "Sepoy" means an Indian soldier serving under British or other European orders. The furniture and metal parts of the musket evidently show signs of their age, and the percussion mechanism and trigger are... Read More

An old percussion musket of Indian or Afghan origins. Initially identified as what appears to be a Pattern 1853 Enfield type of musket, though records state that such muskets were of the .577 calibre as opposed to being .75 calibre. Given the presence of its Pattern 1853 Enfield-type wooden stock, a possible replacement at some point during the musket's lifetime, we were prompted to dive deeper into the background of these famous and widespread muskets.
Widely adopted by the British army and the US military, among a series of other... Read More

A matchlock rampart gun of impressive size. Boasting an impressive overall length of 8 foot 1 inch, or 97.2 inches. The ramrod alone comes to a length of approximately 5 foot 9 inches, and can be removed and inserted back into its dedicated slot under the weapon's barrel without issue. A very heavy and extravagant piece of unusual size, rampart guns like these were used on sturdy walls, posts and other fortifications to fend off oncoming enemy forces. Given its structure, mechanism used and the excellent degree of craftsmanship demonstrated... Read More

PPS stands for "Pistalyet Poolemyot Sudayeva" (ENG: Sudayev's machine gun, in reference to Alexey Ivanovich Sudayev, one of the two original designers of this weapons alongside I. K. Bezruchko-Vysotsky), a name issued to a family of Soviet submachine guns that used 7.62x25mm Tokarev ammunition. Used in the USSR from 1942 up until the 1960s, with other countries being reported to have used them starting from 1942 up to the present day. A Gem air rifle. A marvel developed by Henry Marcus Quackenbush (1847-1933), an American inventor and industrialist, founder of the H.M. Quackenbush Co.; Quackenbush is often informally dubbed by some collectors as "the great grandfather of air guns". Quackenbush was born in Herkimer, New York, where he spent his entire life. The Gem started out following Quackenbush's filing of U.S. Patent 370,817, simply called "Air-Gun", issued October the 4th, 1887. The patent shows a break-barrel air rifle, with certain components such as the... Read More

An "F" series model of the Webley Premier air pistol, introduced as early as 1964. Made by the arms manufacturer Webley And Scott of Birmingham, England, close to the time when they had ceased their manufacturing of live firearms altogether (halted in 1979, to be exact, though their firearms production had restarted in 2010). The halt of this firm's manufacture of air guns from their Birmingham factory followed decades later in 2005. As the standard with an abundance of Webley And Scott products, this air pistol bears... A pair of 18 pounder artillery shell cases, made from brass, which came as a pair. Of sentimental value. Used to belong to my grandfather until his passing in 2009 during my younger years. As I had few memories of him, I decided to proudly display these two keepsakes here on our Collector's Corner. They've have been in our family for over 40 years. Kept a hold of both of these, keeping them together, given their background. Being over 100 years old, they certainly show their age as expected of discarded military ordnance.

A single prototype .224 Boz cartridge (inert). These were reported to have been developed in the late 1990s, though the .224 Boz round was never widely adopted, if at all, excluding its brief use during several military trials to gauge NATO's potential interest in using it.

A set of four antique lead musket balls, estimated to be from the 18th to 19th century, though could be earlier. Musket balls were used as early as the 14th century, though they were replaced by the Minie ball in the mid-19th century. Musket balls were commonly used in the English and American civil wars, though they saw very widespread use in other early conflicts.
Musket balls were typically loaded into the muzzle of early firearms, accompanied by a piece of cloth or paper (wrapped around the projectile itself). They were known to... Read More

Status: Still Owned, Not For Sale
A gold-plated collector knife of sentimental value. Belonged to my late father and was given to me by him during his final years, prior to his passing in late 2019. The one of the most, if not the most, prized piece in my collection given its level of sentimental value. The going rate for these knives are, from my own findings, relatively cheap; between £30 to £50, at varying prices that hover around these two figures. Several hours of searching online would reveal that these knives are... Read More
